vrnjacka-banja-1Vrnjacka Banja (Vrnjacka spa) is the biggest and the most famous spa in Serbia. The spa is situated in central Serbia, in the Vrnjacka Banja municipality in Raska district, and it is 70 kilometres away from “Vajati”. It is situated between mountain Goc and the river Western Morava. Nearby the hot mineral spring in Vrnjacka Banja, within the period from 2nd till 4th century, the Romans built their healing center called “Aquae orcinae”. Today it is called Vrnjacka Banja. This name originates from the name of the village called Vrnjci, the place where mineral springs were found. The exploatation of the springs started in 1970. There are seven mineral springs.

vrnjacka-banjaVrnjacka Banja was famous for healing and curing diabetes, digestion system, gout and anemia. This is also a region with some important monuments of the Serban Middle Ages culture, out of which the monasteries called Studenica and Sopocani (12th century), being the world-wide famous and important monuments, were especially protected by UNESCO. A Castle of culture is the oldest and the most representative preserved object in Vrnjacka Banja. It is a museum, gallery, music hall, as well as an Academy of Arts. It was built according to the structure of the Italian field castles of that time.
